The French Lotto, also known as the Loto or the French National Lottery, is a popular lottery game in France. It is operated by the French lottery operator Francaise des Jeux, which was established in 1976. The French Lotto was first introduced in 1976 and has since become one of the most popular lottery games in France.
The game is played by selecting 5 numbers from a pool of 49 numbers, and then an additional number, known as the Lucky Number, from a pool of 10 numbers. Players can either select their own numbers or use the Quick Pick option to have the numbers chosen randomly. The odds of winning the jackpot in the French Lotto are 1 in 19,068,840.
The French Lotto is drawn three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings at 8:30 pm CET. The minimum jackpot for the game is €2 million, and it can roll over if there are no jackpot winners. The maximum jackpot that can be won is €36 million.
In addition to the jackpot, there are eight additional prize tiers in the French Lotto, with prizes awarded for matching as few as two numbers and the Lucky Number. The overall odds of winning any prize in the French Lotto are 1 in 6.19.
Proceeds from the French Lotto are used to fund various public projects and initiatives in France, including sports, culture, and social programs.
