There are a thousand things to do in the Cape Winelands District...and then there's wine!
These phrases truly characterize the Cape Winelands District; this one-of-a-kind region is home to amazing sites set in vast open areas, where adventure is not only conceivable, but likely!
The Cape Winelands District invites you to our magnificent location if you are planning your post-pandemic retreat.
Whether you're a family of thrill-seeking mountain bikers, a multi-generational group of foodies, birders, campers, glampers, or wine connoisseurs, a group of festival-goers, a solo traveller interested in our history, or a couple looking for the perfect wedding location, the CWD has options to suit your needs and your budget.
The Cape Winelands District is divided into up to five subdistricts, totaling 22 309 km2.
It runs along the N1 Touwsrivier from Stellenbosch to Paarl, passing over magnificent mountain passes to Tulbagh, Ceres, or Op-die-Berg, or via the Huguenot Tunnel to Worcester and into the Hex River Valley.
Returning to Stellenbosch, one may take a leisurely drive through the backroads to Montagu, taking the long way around.
The fact that these sites are within a 30- to 120-minute drive from Cape Town is arguably the largest advantage in these times when we are all searching for value for money.
